The City of Detroit launched its “Detroit for Life” campaign in September 2023, in order to establish
branding and promote city programs that are supported by ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) federal
funds. The tagline is “Offering Limitless Opportunities”. “Detroit for Life” has a double meaning – (1)
these programs help create a better future for residents and help improve the lives of Detroiters and (2)
the programs are only available to Detroiters, those who remain loyal to the city, those who rep Detroit
and will hopefully remain that way for a lifetime.
We want Detroiters to log on to the website: https://detroitmi.gov/detroitforlife and seek more
information.
Goal of the campaign is to drive awareness and inform Detroit residents of Detroit for Life programs by
leveraging high-visibility media placements and influential, representative voices that amplify messaging
reach.
Detroit Promise offers tuition-free college to every Detroit high school graduate.
The Detroit Promise is a last-dollar scholarship that ensures all eligible Detroit residents have a tuition-free path to an associate degree, bachelor’s degree or technical certificate at participating academic institutions.
Interested students should check with their school to ensure that their desired degree or technical certificate is Pell-eligible. Programs that are not Pell-eligible cannot be covered by the Detroit Promise. Detroit Promise funding is not competitive; every student who registers and meets the requirements will receive funding if their college determines they have an eligible funding gap.
